NEW POSTING
May 2023 Posting
Greetings,
It is now 2023 and I am concluding my 11th year at Temple Israel of Alameda, Cantor & Director of Education & Music.
I am looking forward to my new journey.
OLD POSTING
I just returned from serving the Progressive congregation Beit Warszawa in Warsaw Poland. Great work, extremely interesting and satisfying. I wrote about so many individual stories from my nearly 6 months in Warsaw. The 20 degrees below and living where one works is not all it is cracked up to be. It is one thing to live without Wife and family, it is another thing to be held captive by weather and living conditions. So, I am back in the states and am looking forward to my next journey....
Soon to come will be some of the fantastic stories of a few of those Jews in Poland who have reciently discovered that they are Jewish; How they found out, how they deal with this new information and what to do now- Stay tuned.....
OLD POSTING
Currently I am employed at Congregation Bet Haverim in Davis California as their Cantor and Assistant Rabbi. Under the terms of my 2nd contract period, my contract runs out June 30, 2011 so I am available as of then.
Originally, this was to be only a 2 year engagement to enable the Rabbi two 6 months sabbaticals. Six months to the end of the 2nd year, I was asked to stay on for one more year and I agreed. This is a very part time employment for me and I have so much enjoyed specifically the use of my various skills and experience. Leading the community in prayer, teaching, delivering sermons, leading discussions, leading Torah Study, updating the technology, creating prayer and service booklets, planning and seeing through wonderful programs and even refining my catering skills.
I am preparing myself to leave Davis as of the end of this June and am currently seeking full time employment (I'm flexible for the right place) for a congregation that wants a very energetic talented and flexible Cantor/Rabbi/Program Director to serve.
